Scholastic PR1ME Mathematics Placement Tests are intended to help teachers determine the starting point for students who begin the programme partway through their primary years. There are five Placement Tests that assess skills from a range of PR1ME Mathematics levels to determine which level is the most appropriate for each student.
Each test consists of questions focused solely on numerical concepts, with a pass rate of 50%. By entering the results into our placement tracking spreadsheet, you will receive personalised recommendations for the appropriate book for each student.
The placement tests are recommended for Year 3 and above.
Here’s how to get started:
1. Watch Our Instructional Video:Begin by familiarising yourself with the testing process through our informative video.
2. Download the Placement Tests: Enter student's name on the spreadsheet.
3. Administer the Test:When testing your students, remember that those with lower literacy levels may need assistance understanding the questions.
4. Transfer the Results:Input the results into the Placement Tracker Spreadsheet.
5. Crosscheck Recommendations: Review the recommended placement level and use an Overall Teacher Judgement (OTJ). This will help you determine if the suggested level is appropriate for each student, or if they will benefit from filling in of gaps to move them forward or starting with the preceding book.
By following these steps, you’ll be able to provide tailored learning experiences that meet the unique needs of each student.
