The Ministry of Education guidance is that teachers will ‘teach to the year level’. PR1ME Maths for Aotearoa New Zealand Schools is fully aligned across Years 0–8. Please contact your PR1ME consultant for further advice around this and the best use of the Diagnostic Assessment.

Here’s how to get started:

1. Speak to your PR1ME consultant: They will help you to familiarise yourself with the assessment process. 

2. Download the Diagnostic Assessments: Enter student's name on the spreadsheet. 

3. Administer the Assessment: When testing your students, remember that those with lower literacy levels may need assistance understanding the questions.

4. Transfer the Results: Input the results into the Diagnostic Assessment Spreadsheet.

Early Counting Assessment Tool (ECAT) Resources

The focus of this assessment tool is to learn quite specifically where students are currently working at with their developing number sense.
